A 6-Day Pilgrimage to Our Lady of
Guadalupe
Including Tepeyac
Hill, Xochimilco, Taxco, Zocalo Plaza, Teotihuacan, Puebla, Our
Lady of Ocotlan, Chapultepec Park and
more.
Day 1 -
Monday
USA /
MEXICO We
depart the USA and arrive in Mexico City and are met by our
Pilgrimage Tours™ tour director who will remain with us until
the end of our tour. We celebrate Mass at the Sacred
Heart Church near our hotel. We arrive at our hotel in
Mexico City for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 -
Tuesday
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE / TEPEYAC
HILL After
breakfast, we depart for Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of
Guadalupe.
After Mass we tour the grounds and visit the museum that
houses a collection of paintings and colonial religious
art by pilgrims in thanks for miracles. We ascend
Tepeyac Hill, the place of the apparitions of the Virgin
Mary to Juan Diego in 1531, and visit the Capilla del
Cerrito. Following the stairs down, we view Tepeyac
Garden and its statues symbolizing the union of the Aztec
people and the Spanish Christian mission. A stop at
the chapel of the Indians completes the tour. We
will also see a number of historical sights during the
driving portion of our tour. Dinner and overnight in
Mexico City.
Day 3 - Wednesday
XOCHIMILCO /
TAXCO This
morning we depart for Xochimilco and visit the Xochimilco
floating gardens. We enjoy a pleasant ride along the
canals in a flat bottom boat. We continue along through
the fertile Morelos Valley into the Sierra Madres where we find
hidden away, the town of Taxco. This city is famous for
its rich source of silver and is a pearl of colonial Mexican
art. We visit the Church of Santa Prisca where we will
celebrate Mass. We also have time for shopping the stores
of Taxco before returning to our hotel in Mexico City for
dinner and overnight.
Day 4 -
Thursday ZOCALO PLAZA / TEOTIHUACAN / PYRAMID
OF THE SUN AND MOON
Our day of pilgrimage begins with
a visit to the historical archaeological center of Zocalo Plaza
where we visit the National Palace and the
largest cathedral in Latin America, the Metropolitan
Cathedral. Next we visit the Parish of San
Bernardino where we celebrate Mass. Then we explore
the ancient city of Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan and
the incredible ruins of the Pyramid of the Sun and Moon
and the Aztec Temple of Tlaloc and Quetzalcotal whose
inhabitants, dating back to 200 B.C., converted to
Catholicism. We return to Mexico City for dinner and
overnight.
Day 5 -
Friday
TEOTIHUACAN / PUEBLA / OUR LADY
OF OCOTLAN This morning we depart on a day-trip for
Mexico’s most beautiful city Puebla, situated at an elevation
of 7,000 feet near Mexico’s snow capped peaks. We
celebrate Mass at the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, site of
apparitions of St. Michael the Archangel and the spring of
curative waters blessed by St. Michael. We will see the
Shrine and Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan, “place of the
burning oak”, where Mary caused her image to be burned into the
tree. We also tour the Cathedral in Puebla.
Finally, we have dinner in Puebla before returning to Mexico
City for overnight.
Day 6 -
Saturday
MEXICO CITY /
USA After an
early breakfast we celebrate Mass at the Basilica at the Plaza
of Three Cultures. At Chapultepec Park and the square of
Three Cultures, we visit the Anthropological Museum before
departing Mexico City for our return flight home. Though
our pilgrimage draws to a close, its blessings will last a
lifetime and its graces are certain to draw us closer each day
to the Lord.
